Kelowna included on Mother Mother’s freshly-announced cross-Canada tour

It’s been quite a while since Mother Mother has come to Kelowna, but that will change in early 2025.

The British Columbian indie rock band announced a cross-Canada tour today that will see them play 11 shows from Victoria to Moncton next winter.

That includes a stop in the Central Okanagan, as the second date on their tour is a show at Prospera Place in Kelowna on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025.

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Cavetown and indie-pop trio Cannons will join as the opening acts for their Canadian shows.

Both the Canadian tour and their previously-announced American tour later this year will support the recent release of their ninth studio album, Grief Chapter.

By the time Mother Mother hits the road in Canada next year, it will have been 20 years since they got their start on Quadra Island in January 2005.

The band began when guitarist and vocalist Ryan Guldemond was at music school and decided he wanted to start a band based on vocal-driven pop songs.

He initially recruited his sister Molly, along with college friend Debra-Jean Creelman, and they became a five-piece when drummer Ali Siadat and bassist Jeremy Page came on board.

Creelman and Page have since been replaced and the current band, featuring Jasmin Parkin and Mike Young, has had a very successful career.

They’ve put out some major hits on Canadian indie radio, including “The Stand,” “Hayloft,” “Let’s Fall in Love,” “Bit By Bit,” “Monkey Tree,” “Get Up,” “I Got Love” and plenty more.

It’s safe to say you’ll hear plenty of those tunes, along with some tracks from Grief Chapter, when they come to Kelowna next year.

An artist presale for Mother Mother’s Canadian tour begins at 10 am on Tuesday, April 30, before tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 am on Friday, May 3, through Live Nation.
